Wood Whale With Shou Sugi Ban Finish
This is our Shou Sugi Ban Whale
Shou Sugi Ban is the Japanese method of finishing wood by burning or charring to seal and protect the wood.
We first burn the raw wood, followed by a blue finish color and then adding a top coat.
These are large whales, 42 inches long
Each Whale is individually made to order in our New Bedford work shop.
New Bedford Massachusetts was the city in which Hermen Melville wrote “Moby Dick”
Each Whale is Crafted from New England Solid White Pine,
Each Whale comes with a hanger on the back.
Can be used either interior or exterior.
